Position Title: Connected Beginnings – Capacity Facilitator

Hours: Flexible (Full Time or Part Time available)

Reports to: Connected Beginnings Project Director

Salary: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour + superannuation (negotiable for highly experienced candidates)

About Bourke & District Children’s Services (BDCS): Bourke & District Children's Services (BDCS) is a not-for-profit children's service situated on the banks of the Darling River in Western NSW at Bourke. We run a Childcare Centre, Preschool, Mobile Play Group and Toy Library.

BDCS works collaboratively with other agencies, organisations, schools, and health care providers to support families, develop links to culture, build capacity of the child and community, nurture a lifelong love of learning, and improve outcomes for the children of Bourke and District.

About the Role: We are seeking a strategic and collaborative individual to join our team as a Capacity Facilitator. In this role, you will work closely with the Connected Beginnings Project Director to strengthen early childhood and health workforce delivery and policy. You will support educational service leaders and educators to improve service quality through professional development and capacity building initiatives. You will also work with the community to drive system change and create lasting impact.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, community-focused environment and is passionate about mentoring others and supporting positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to early childhood educators to enhance their skills, confidence, and service delivery.
• Developing and implementing capacity-building initiatives to improve workforce capabilities and service quality in local early childhood education.
• Building and strengthening relationships with diverse staff, nearby community educators, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Engaging with local schools, government bodies, and Indigenous community leaders to enhance early childhood service delivery.
• Advocating for improved funding, resources, and support for early childhood education programs.
• Supporting families in accessing early childhood education and related services.
• Facilitating workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs to enhance educator development and team performance.
• Collecting and analysing data to monitor and report on the impact of capacity- building initiatives.
• Ensuring the integration of Aboriginal perspectives into early childhood education, embedding cultural awareness and inclusivity in service delivery.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, capacity building, or workforce development, particularly in early childhood education or health.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across sectors.
• Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform decision-making and program improvement.
• Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in grant writing or fund development.
• Understanding of early childhood education and health systems.
• Current NSW Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a visa permitting ongoing employment in Australia.

Desirable:

• Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or Diploma in Early Childhood Education with significant experience.
• Qualifications in Social Work, Community Development, or Training and Assessment.
• Experience mentoring educators or community workers.
• Familiarity with service delivery in regional or remote communities.
• Experience in program evaluation and reporting on capacity-building initiatives.
• Willingness to travel interstate to attend Connected Beginnings conferences and advocate for the project.
